Outstanding Township map of the state of Iowa from 1854 or 8 years after it became a state & 13 years before Nebraska became a state! Nebraska is depicted as Nebraska territory. Have found only 2 other maps like this & they were printed in 1855 & call themselves 1st edition. This map was printed one year before that & may have been the original prototype. Map published by Henn, Williams & Co. Fairfield, Iowa & R.L. Barnes, Philadelphia. Map depicts the Emigrant Road to the Pacific, leaving from Fremont township in Iowa. There are about 16 townships in the northwest part of this map that show no detail & I believe that is because it is uncharted Indian territory. Amazing framed map of historical importance! Colors have faded over the years & there is a watermark on the right side which is not on the Iowa part of the map. 100% readable. Frame measures 36 3/8” x 22 5/8”.
Located in Fontanelle, NE, 10 miles northwest of Fremont, 15 miles west of Blair & 50 miles from Omaha. Pickup or meetup & delivery can be arranged.
