All the Artifacts in this Frame were found on our Family Farm in Platte and Colfax Counties in Nebraska over a period of 121 years since 1904 when my Great Great Great Grandfather moved West. All of the sites these artifacts came from are within 5 miles of the Platte River, one of the largest trade routes in the Midwest. Various copper pieces traded by the French are not uncommon.
The State of Nebraska, The Nebraska State Historical Society, The Smithsonian Institute, Waldo Wedel, the famous Archaeologist, The University of Nebraska at Lincoln The University of Nebraska at Omaha, Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska have all been doing research and digs on the farm since 1930 when Waldo Wedel came here. The rest of the artifacts were found by family members walking the creek, high spots, the creek and drainage ditches.

This frame is made up of some of the nicest artifacts that have been found on our farms.

The drilled gorget is 2" long and has tally marks on the right side and top.
I have been making these type of shadow box frames for many years and the methods used to insure a frame that will maintain its structure and beauty for many generations. The Aluminum braces on the back are utilized to stabilize the weight of the stone axes on the front center. The way it is done prevents the artifacts from sagging.
