Rare Vintage Dark Blue 100% Wool Coat Jacket by W.A. Goodman & Sons in Good Used Condition (GUC)
The coat is made in the style of a high school varsity jacket. It has two slit pockets and it closes using snaps. The collar, cuffs and hem are ribbed.
The size is 40 (which seems to translate approximately to Large (L)) per the tag sewn into the right front pocket.
The coat is in good shape overall. Notably, both sleeves have been mended and patched (see pics). There may have been something added to the sleeves that was later removed.
There are a couple of small holes in the collar, cuffs and hem (maybe due to moths?) and the collar, cuffs and hem appear to be faded somewhat. The left armhole may have been repaired, but it is intact. The body and sleeves are intact and solid.
W.A. Goodman & Sons was based in Los Angeles, and they made jerseys for several Major League Baseball teams in the 1970s and 1980s. However, this jacket appears to pre-date that era. It could have been produced in the 1970s, but it also could have been produced as far back as the 1950s (based on comparable coats).
