Selling because I found another car I am interested in. Car is a great cruiser, goes down the interstate at 80mph with no issues (80mph is about 3000rpm). Very comfortable. Seat belts in front seat and has cruise control.
Body: Looks good from 10’. A look underneath will show that there is rust in the rockers and there are spots down low where the paint has bubbles. I’ve been told that most of it would benefit from buffing but the paint on the trunk lid looks a little thin to me.
Interior: Definitely 70’s here. Pattern on front seats extends to the headliner, unfortunately someone tried to spray part of the headliner black above the drivers door. Rear seat has a diamond pattern but the sun has damaged the seat back. Column is out of an early Mopar A-body (Dart?) as near as we can tell as is the manual brake system (upgraded to a dual reservoir master). Autometer gauges with GPS module for speed and Retrosound AM/FM radio with Bluetooth (needs to be wired). Also have a Newport Engineering electric wiper motor (not installed). Car has cruise control operated from pull switches on dash.
Drivetrain: 1966 273ci Mopar V8. Engine was purchased used in late 2012 and has been in the car since then. Was told that it was rebuilt and then removed with very few miles. Cross hatch in the bores make me believe that to be true. Receipts from the machine shop indicate that the heads were shaved and a Comp camshaft was installed. Has 70 psi + oil pressure with Melling HV oil pump. Leaks a little probably due to the high oil pressure. A904 3-speed automatic transmission, rebuilt during the winter of 2012/2013 and has been in the car since then with no issues. Torque converter was replaced with rebuilt unit at that time.
Rear Axle: Mopar 8-3/4 with 2.93 open rear gears. Not exactly fast off the line but will cruise down the interstate at 80mph with no issues. Believed to be an E-Body rear axle. Mounts with stock leaf springs.
Front Suspension: Original independent front suspension with Fatman dropped uprights, Aerostar coil springs, Cavalier steering rack (Fatman kit), and disk brake conversion (utilizes Explorer disks and Thunderbird calipers). A look underneath will show that the steering rack mount has bottomed out, that was corrected (mostly) with the new coil springs (Moog CC850 with ¾ of a coil cut) and a thick spring isolator (Energy Suspension 9.6108). Upper shock mount relocated to the frame (stock upper mount was on upper control arm).
Other Known Issues: Emergency brake line is frozen on the right rear axle. Suspension was designed for bias ply tires with basically 0 caster. A little extra toe-in utilized to keep it tracking straight.
Miles listed is approximate mileage since engine installed and transmission was rebuilt.
